Ummm......That's Ridiculous!

Let me know if you share my disgust for some outrageous prices I have recently incurred. Last night, Jayme and I decided to go see Batman Begins (which, by the way, is the best movie I have seen this year.....better than Episode 3 and Hitch!). BUT....for a night at the movies, a medium Mr. Pibb and Peanut Butter M & M's......I spent $16.50. and that was just for me....I couldn't even afford to pay for Jayme! While venting about the price on our way home, I drove past a gas station. Suddenly our gas prices have jumped up 10 cents once again. For you that live in Illinois you would probably love to pay $2.10/gallon. But no matter where you live.....this is CRAZY! How selfish am I, that I would spend that kind of money on entertain, when many in our nation and surrounding nations don't make that much in one year. Am I more ridiculous because I agree to use that much of my money that God has given me on the temporary?

Just dreaming about the dream!

So today I was able to visit my cousin Jaala's xanga site. If you want to check it out...look to your right! Upon arrival I was greeted by the beautiful site of the beach....Florida's beach! Oh the memories of last weekend. It was my first visit to Florida....and a real beach. I have been to the beach in New Hampshire and Washington (state), but neither are beaches where you congregate to lay out, play v-ball, or surf! What an amazing life....to wake up late...crawl out of your room just to relax under the sun all day on the sand. White sand, might I add....none of this coarse, brown stuff you pick up at the lumberyard in MO! The type you want to have between your toes! I was able to beat the v-ball around with now good friends Among Thorns and kick back with now good friends Jason Morant and band. Here are some more quick highlights of the weekend:
-Hid from the manager of the hotel all week (7 people in a 2 person room!)
-Watched rays flop out of the waves (kind of scared Missy and Andrea!!)
-Got kicked out of a dance club (I don't drink...I guess I was so white I was a disgrace?)
-watched a sweet funk band at Spinnaker's (site of the first MTV Spring Break)
-Got some sun (But not too much....this white boy is still very white!)

Hope and Peace!

O....U....C....H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That last post took me over 30 minutes to type. Not because it is so long...but because I am suffering with a sun-burnt back!! Monday for Memorial Day, I decided to spend a couple hours at my girlfriend's apartment complex pool just lounging. I guess when you are as ghostly white as I was, you burn a little quicker! I was only on my stomach for about 30 minutes, but that was enough. It is now in the ultra-incredibly ITCHY stage. I burst out in fits shaking just to try and cope with the pain and irritation!! Nowhere else on my body has a chance to be burnt because of the forest that grows on my flesh....but my back is a desert in comparison!! But I think that is a very good thing!! Well now that you have all lost your appetites....I am going to let you go! Enjoy the sun....but not too much! Hope and Peace!!

Super!!

So last night I was able to be apart of a benefit concert at Rocketown! My good friend Ashley Holmertz has been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, and the only treatment facility is in California. So to raise money for medical bills and a treatment plan, we had a special benefit concert at Rocketown. I played percussion for a group called Thursday Theory. They are my good friends Annie and Rachel. Also to play was Jonathan Dunn and Micah Dalton! Jonathan is a solo acoustic songwriter and Micah is kind of a Dave Matthews meets Bob Marley. To headline the evening was SUPERCHICK!! Despite the rain and the small crowd....Superchick rocked house! There is something incredibly appealing when a band can get up in front of a smaller than normal crowd...with a terrible sound system....and still have so much fun interacting together. Matt, Melissa, Tricia, Dave, Brandon, and Max couldn't have ended the night any better. As 20-something "adults" we found ourselves jumping and moshing to the retro Superchick songs "Barlow Girls", "One-Girl Revolution", and many others. It has been too long since let down my guard and just had a blast rocking!! The typical Nashvillian at a concert sits back, observes, and then critiques everything aspect of the show (thinking in his/her mind how they could have done it and done it better). But we broke that mold and just let it all go! Superchick has really stepped it up musically since their first album "Karaoke Superstar", even though that is one of my all-time favorite albums! Check out their latest release "Beauty From Pain" at www.superchick.net. All in all the concert was a success. Ashley drove back from camp to be present for the evening. Crazy emotions flew when she took the stage to address the adoring crowd. Words can't describe the faith that she lives out each day! She was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 18 (still in H.S.). She battled through that just to be re-diagnosed at the age of 21! But that can't and won't take the smile off her gorgeous face. Lord willing she will be able to be a living testimony for many years to come! If only we could all grasp just a piece of that type of faith....look out world!! Hope and Peace!!
