Happy Birthday Kyle!!

Wow....what an eventful weekend! Let me take you through a quick tour:

Wednesday, Oct. 25......10 a.m.
-received an email from Troy VanLiere (manager for Newsong). He is asking if I am still interested in the road manager/pastor position for Newsong. If I am, he would like to get me out on the road with Newsong for the weekend so that I could shadow the road manager/pastor for his last weekend. I said YES!!!! He tells me that he has to check with Newsong, but will get back with me once he hears (they have shows Fri, Sat, Sun)

Thursday, Oct. 26......3:30 p.m.
-still haven't heard any confirmation about the Newsong possibility. So I call Sarah Ann who works for Newsong's manager. She says that she knows about this and that she hasn't heard anything but will call Eddie.....the lead guy for Newsong. She calls back about 20 minutes later and says that they want me for the weekend!!!! The only problem is that I have to get south of Nashville by 9:30 p.m. that night in order to meet some of the band to then drive to Atlanta, GA in order to meet up with the bus and head for Virginia.

Thursday, Oct. 26......5:30 p.m.
-Jayme and I rush to the airport to rent a car for me to drive, since we share a car and Jayme hasn't to have it for the weekend.

Thursday, Oct. 26.....7:30 p.m.
-Floor 27 Bible Study at our house. Halloween Costume party. I dressed up as a party pooper once again. I leave early in order to meet the guys at 9:30 to head to Atlanta.

Friday, Oct. 27......2:30 a.m.
-arrive in Woodstock, GA and crawl onto the bus to sleep. One of the crew guys graciously gave up his bunk for the weekend so that I wouldn't have to sleep on the couch!! Thanks Josh!!!

Friday, October 27......around Noon
-arrive in Martinsville, VA....unload.....begin shadowing Allen. This show was a fundraiser for a ministry called "God's Pit Crew". They are a disaster relief team. They were great to work with and incredible help unloading, setting up, tearing down, and loading!! The weather was nasty....raining and cold!

Saturday, October 28.....around 5 a.m.
-arrive in Tabor City, NC for the North Carolina Sweet Potato Fest! We didn't play until about 8 p.m. that night, but we had to set up around 8:30 a.m. in order to be set up and out of the way for the rest of the festivities during the day. There was more "fair-type" food in this small down-town than I've seen in my lifetime. Ribs, corndogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, and the list goes on. We ate well....let's just put it at that.

Sunday, October 29.....around Noon
-arrive in Enterprise, AL at Hillcrest Baptist Church. This was more of a typical show. We unloaded, set up, did the show, tore down, loaded up, and that was about it. Nothing too excited, except that is was a sell-out crowd of about 1000 people!! At the end of the concert, Newsong (as they always do) had an invitation time. Allen and I took the people who had made decisions backstage to get them hooked up with counselors from the church in order to follow up on the decisions they were making. While coming forward, one counselor who was probably a 60-something lady fell and cracked her head open on the stairs.....she was bleeding like a stuck pig!! While we were all in the counseling area another counselor became faint and passed out....TWICE! I guess that was somewhat eventful!!

Monday, October 30.....around 5 a.m.
-arrive back in Woodstock and sleep on the bus until 8 a.m. I then drove back to Nashville where my beautiful wife met me at the airport and took me to work!! Yeah, I began this paragraph at work, and now I'm back.

So that was my very eventful weekend. And good news....I get to do it again this weekend!! Please pray about this opportunity. There is a very good chance that this road manager/pastor position could be given to me. Jayme and I covet God's direction in this matter!! Hope and Peace!!

on the road again!

I stepped down from my job today....... My boss and I both agreed that my passion isn't in booking concerts and he and I need to work together to find another job for me. So PRAY that he and I will be able to listen to God and find the right place where I can work with the right people, doing the right things at the right time!! Thanks guys! Hope and Peace!!

thurs......10.5

Scripture:
Col. 1
Jn. 3;1-21
Acts 3

I began our little morning devo challenge reading through Paul's episles (starting with Galatians). Colossians starts off like many of these episles, with Paul telling the Colossians how much he is excited about their faith and love! This made me think about all my friends and family back home and from college. It made me look back on their faith (not that I had anything to do with that faith) and see how God was growing them while I was with them. Hindsite always makes me laugh! It brought back discussions late at night in the dorm.....conversations on the floor in the hallway of Pelfrey Hall.....3Du trips.....and too many other memories to count. God was leading us and teaching us about our faith while he was growing us as friends. I love to think of you guys and praise Him for the faith that He is leading us in!
Floor 27 is going through a study of the "3:16 of the New Testament" and today's study is Jn. 3:16. So for the last 2 weeks I've been reading Jn. 3:16 in the context of Jn. 3. This verse comes alive when based on the story of Nicodemus. This was a Pharisee who came to Jesus at night. Instead of hiding in the shadows and watering down his message, Jesus brought Nicodemus into the light and preached the gospel to him.....no apologies. Jesus' sole purpose was to win/save the world, and he was dedicated to that purpose all hours of the day. His ministry didn't stop at 5 when he left his office. And it certainly didn't stop when an intimadating high ranking religious person questioned. I want a purpose like that!
Next week, F27 will study Acts 3:16....so I read that as well. Off to work. Hope and Peace!!

Life lived on the web

So for the last two weeks, Monte and I have challenged each other to wake up an hour early each day and give that first hour to God in prayer, reading, whatever! I have to admit, I'm not the greatest morning person. It has been very easy to sleep and think that I'm praying at the same time, or to think that I will sleep now and just read some other time during the day. But all in all, I feel like God is giving me the energy I need to make this a habit. You can pray for us as we challenge each other!
With all that said, I am going to work to post each day about what God is teaching me and what I read. I am working to develop my writing skills, and this will help me practice. My hope and prayer is that what God is teaching me, He will use the posts to teach others as well. All for His glory! Hope you enjoy. Hope and Peace!!

"All Aboard!"

These are a couple house pictures now that we are DONE!! The Butler house in Nashville is now open for visitors. Give me a call and come and stay for a weekend! Hope and Peace!
